What’s happening in Washington? A lunch time discussion with Steve Okun (Aug 17)

Dear Member,

Join us for a lunch time discussion with Steven Okun, who will host an interactive discussion on the political situation in Washington.

He will review the record of the Trump administration, take a look behind the polls to show why the President’s relatively low ratings are not all they are made out to be, why the Republicans have not yet had major legislative victories despite controlling the Congress and White House, what is in store legislatively for the rest of 2017 and provide an early prognosis for the 2018 mid-term elections.

Steve is the Founder and CEO of APAC Advisors. He served in the administration of President Bill Clinton from 1994-1999, and worked on numerous political campaigns and at national party conventions. He regularly appears on CNBC and Channel NewsAsia to discuss US politics and their intersection with business. He has served as the Chairman of both the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore and the Asia Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce. Steve has lived and worked in Singapore since 2003.

Venue: SPH Auditorium, 1000 Toa Payoh North, Singapore 318994.
Time: Noon to 2pm.
Light lunch will be provided.

Please register at secretariat@pressclub.org.sg by August 15.

Diplomats Quarterly Golf Challenge (July 21)

Dear Golf League Members,

Our next golf event will be the Diplomats Challenge on Friday, July 21 at Laguna National Golf & Country Club, teeing off at around 8 am.

This will be the second game of the year’s Diplomats Challenge. Our team won the first match so let’s keep the momentum going.

This second Challenge is arranged by the Diplomats. They have negotiated a discounted fee at $150 + GST per golfer, with members of Laguna National paying the buggy fee only. The friendly diplomats will also pick up the tab for prizes and a simple post-game lunch at The Nest.

Please sign up with the secretariat at secretariat@pressclub.org.sg by 17 July.

We’d like as many of our members to sign up. As before, our captain Patrick Daniel will select the team to play against the diplomats whilst the rest of us will compete in the Golf League and strive to move up our leaderboard. This will likely be the last chance to do so before our annual tournament this year.

We would like to take this opportunity to give you a head ups on our annual Singapore Press Club-CIMB Golf Classic 2017. This year, we will play in the newly renovated Warren Golf & Country Club on September 29, Friday. Do block the date!

We look forward to another great day on the greens. And signing off as usual – Golf is a game of the mind, so stay calm and golf on.
