1st Regular Golf Outings – @ Orchid Country Club on Thurs 17 Feb 2011 starting around 7.30 am

Golfing enthusiasts among our club members have suggested that the club convene a golfing group to organize more golfing activities. The management committee has discussed this matter and appointed MC member Dicky Goh as Golfing Convenor.

The plan is to organise regular golf outings in the golf clubs in Singapore and the surrounding region. To “tee-off” this plan, we have arranged for 4 flights at the Orchid Country Club on Thurs 17 Feb 2011, starting around 7.30am.

The cost per pax is $60. As we expect the slots to be taken up quickly, please register with Dicky Goh @ as soon as possible to secure your participation.

To reduce administrative resources, we will work on an honour system. Dicky will settle the fees with the club and participants will settle their green fees with him during the event. However, no-shows will pay a penalty of the full green fee, to SPC.

Our intention is to provide a platform for club members to enjoy the game of golf and camaraderie amongst club members and if there is enough interest, to assist more club members, to take up the sometimes frustrating, but always enjoyable game of golf.

The Guru of Chai

Come, be entranced by The Guru of Chai.

In another of the Press Club’s ongoing arts activities, we are partnering the Singapore Repertory Theatre to present to Club members and their guests a special evening of the SRT’s next production, “The Guru of Chai” on Thursday, January 20th at 8pm, at the DBS Arts Centre, 20 Merbau Road.

“It’s a terrific play, so I can assure you that you are in for a treat. It’s really a ‘must-see’ production,’’ says Press Club member and Artistic Director of SRT, Gaurav Kripalani, who is extending a 15 per cent discount and his hospitality to us.

Club members and their guests pay only $37 instead of $43, and drinks before the show will be thrown in by Gaurav. The show starts at 8pm and ends at 9.20pm.

Press Club members are welcome to bring their friends and they too get entry at the discounted rates.

You can find out more about the play at

Please reply to the Secretariat, giving details of number of tickets required and payment. All bookings should be received by Thursday, Jan 13th.
